Everything seemed to work perfectly until i suddenly started experiencing these symptoms:
Software Manager doesn't open. Nothing happens.
Update Manager displays "Could not refresh the list of updates" at bottom of window
Driver Manager displays pop-up error message
Failed to load the package list.
