system hangs and running pretty slow

i am new to linux mint. i have lenovo laptop Intel© Core™ i3-6006U CPU @ 2.00GHz × 2, 4gb ram, 4.15.0-34-generic kernel verion and linux mint 19. i only use my laptop for web browsing but after some time it starts to lag and hangs also for some time. i am unable to find the problem or solution to it. please help me.

In the terminal type in

inxi -Fx

and post the results

I think you have an issue with swap space - it is too large and the overflow gets back up back into the RAM causing you system to bog down

The "cure" is three-fold:

Priority One: buy more RAM. This can never hurt you and can only help you. If you've got the money, and your motherboard has the capacity to hold more RAM, do it.
Priority Two: don't run that program that takes up all your RAM.
Priority Three: reduce the size of your swap partition, or eliminate it entirely, or buy a faster hard drive (such as an SSD).
