Wine and security?

Post by David1293 »

Hi, all
I've been thinking of installing Wine in order to install and play some retro Windows games.
I know that some are against this idea, so would like to seek opinions on this in case it would compromise my security.
The games I intend playing are low resource and do not require connection to the internet.
Is this advisable, or a definite no no?
I'd be grateful for your advice.
Regards
D

This is fine. Might I also suggest you install PlayOnLinux in addition to Wine. It is a graphical front-end for Wine, and I find it makes things much easier to install. With P.O.L. you can even install different versions of Wine, if a certain version of Wine is needed for a specific game. :-)
