Unstable touchpad Dell Inspiron 15 3000 Series [SOLVED]

I'm quite new to Linux so sorry if this is a dull question to be asking but my cursor is really unstable on my laptop. No matter how slow I slide my finger across it'll fly across the screen; for some reason it doesn't do this on my mouse. I've tried changing the sensitivity but it doesn't seem to do anything. When looking online I did see people post this input quite a bit so I hope this will be of some use.

In a terminal:

sudo apt install --reinstall xserver-xorg-input-synaptics
