Yesterday I did an major update (the laptop hadn't been used for a few weeks) and this morning when I booted up the laptop has no broadband connection. (I am posting this on another machine). The Network Manager, when hovered over, only has the single message "no connection" and when right clicked on the menu only has "About" and "Remove Network Manager".
I am using Linux Mint 18.2 "Sonya" 64bit on a DELL Inspiron 1525. Previous to this update it has worked perfectly.
Can I backtrack and uninstall, or perhaps identify the problem? I am also noticing that the laptop goes into a non responsive mode occasionally which is not connected to the screensaver.
UPDATE:-
Since yesterday I have tried using the Device manager to check if I using bcmwl (whatever that is) as i had fixed this before this way. I connected on a cable to the router and the Driver Manager Cache updated and show bcmwl installed and in use.
I attach the results of typing "uname -a", "dkms status", "inxi -Nn" and "rekill list" as suggested previously.

Re: WiFi connection lost
Remove bcmwl-kernel-source and install the firmware-b43-installer, then reboot
