Post by ADee »

I replaced a HDD did a clean install of Cinnamon 19 and have no sound. Turning the machine off and turning it on has given me sound in the past, not this time. Please advise. TIA

Hi ADee.

I'm confused, which is not hard to induce. The last time you had sound issues here was part of your inxi:

Code: Select all

Graphics: Card: NVIDIA GT218 [GeForce 210] bus-ID: 01:00.0
           Display Server: x11 (X.Org 1.19.6 )
           drivers: nvidia (unloaded: modesetting,fbdev,vesa,nouveau)
           Resolution: 1920x1080@60.00hz
           OpenGL: renderer: GeForce 210/PCIe/SSE2
version: 3.3.0 NVIDIA 340.106 Direct Render: Yes
Audio: Card-1 NVIDIA High Def. Audio Controller
           driver: snd_hda_intel bus-ID: 01:00.1
           Card-2 Creative Labs Sound Core3D [Sound Blaster Recon3D / Z-Series]
           driver: snd_hda_intel bus-ID: 02:00.0
Sound: Advanced Linux Sound Architecture v: k4.18.5-041805-generic
Did you remove a video card? Also, the bus-ID has changed for the Creative card since the new install.

Based on our earlier efforts, I suspect hdajackretask might be worth an effort assuming pacmd list-sinks output looks normal.
