Hello everyone,
I installed Mint on my "old" notebook about two weeks ago because I needed a more responsive system for Web and office work, mail and so on. I still have Win7 installed in dual boot for emergencies and for family, but at the moment I am quite satisfied. I've tried other distros in past years (in over 20 years, from Win95 and beyond.. ) but I've never really studied and focused on linux because of specific software i needed and of course also because i was a gamer.
But i hope this is the right time, now i can use virtualbox and games are not anymore a problem, i don't have any time to play !
Another reason is that I don't like the way that Windows is going along (u know, i read), I would like a different system, really under my control. A system that allows to me to consciously choose what to install. In this moment of my life, in which I am more mature, I feel this need.
I am Italian, I live in Vicenza in the north east, not far from Venice. There is a very active Linux User Group here but i do not have time to attend their meetings and in this moment, some of their arguments are too much difficult for my level. But I read their mailing list! Maybe in the future..
Thank you all!

welcome to our forum
in many ways, your journey is very similar to the journey that we have had.
- there are many who have abandoned the Windows System, as it is going in an direction,
that they do not like & thus they have also found about Linux Systems.

Aah Bella Italia!
Concerning Linux, about the same story here. I recommend to you, find some time to invest, it really pays off!
