hi
I have installed Linux Mint 19 Tara Cinnamoon 2 nights ago.
The reason why I am here is that I don't get WiFi/Internet. I have been reading through different forums and especially Linux ones, tried different solutions and sometimes used the terminal to look inside .
I will explain the problems I am going through :
I have a FritzWlan Usb adaptor, (that has always worked perfectly on Windows10)
°the dongle is NOT recognized, it doesn't light up when I insert it in the port.
I thought there are no drivers for it, so I have opened Driver Manager : Blank! It asks me instead to connect (but I don't have the chance) plus an error message : "failed to download repositories information ".
I have downloaded the FritzWlan 's drivers with another PC and unzipped to the one with Mint, but I only get error messages when I open the file exe.
Last night I have given this command : <lsusb> and <dmseg>, and the dongle was recognized with all its features. But still no light blinking.
Now, I don't know if it is the USB issue or the Driver Manager issue, or both.
my other question is : is it normal that Driver Manager is totally empty right after a brand-new installation?
Can you help me please ?
I am a newby but I can follow instructions if they are clear.
Thanks for your attention
Blanca

Blanca, you need to post the outcome of "lsusb" into your next post so that JeremyB can help you, he is a Networking Specialist! Preferably in a text box which looks like this in the toolbar above: </>
Also, if you had an Ethernet cable plugged in you might get a driver in the "Driver Manager". This is because not all of them are included in the Linux Mint Image. Some need to be downloaded from the internet.
