Foobar
Is there a Linux version of Foobar 2000? This is an audio program on which I have come to rely because of its versatility and accuracy.

Re: Foobar
Yes and no - it works with Wine and has been packed as a Wine based Snap (you don't need Wine installed to run the Snap as the Snap includes a self-contained Wine instance to run Foobar).

Thank you, Smurphos.
I actually found that site. I installed it however I can't find how to modify it for my system. Everything in the GUI is tiny!

Re: Foobar
There is another problem, I think.
I was told that as soon as I install anything to do with WINE, it leaves me open to the same malware that attacks Microsoft. This is one of the reasons that I migrated the Linux!

Re: Foobar
This is a myth. Windows viruses use vulnerabilities in Windos OS to infect. Wine code is written from scratch and does not have these vulnerabilities. Actually, there was a test. They tried several viruses and the worst ones only managed to crash Wine. No infection.

I don't use wine and have never tried a WineSnaps, but in theory a WineSnap is very unlikely to have these issues as the wine instance is sandboxed in the the Snap container. How effective Snap (and Flatpak) sandboxing is is another story.
Sorry - I've never actually tried this snap myself (or any snap) so I'm not sure what and where can be tweaked for this. According to the little graph at the bottom of https://snapcraft.io/foobar2000 there are a significant number of Mint users with the snap so hopefully one will spot the thread and be able to help.Peter Linu wrote: ⤴Fri Nov 16, 2018 5:13 pm Thank you, Smurphos.

I still say it is a myth. This Wiki goes into same category with goods that are sold all over the world, yet are banned in California because there is a slimmest chance they may cause cancer. They can't say Wine is immune and they do not want anybody to blame them for saying so.
