(SOLVED) Do distros get all updates

Post by MichaelT » Sun Nov 18, 2018 9:37 pm

've been running off a Mint 19 install on a flash drive for the last 60 days. I've been applying all updates as they become available via update manager. I want to do a permanent install on an SSD and dual boot with Win 10. I plan to get a fresh distro for the install but I'm curious if it will already contain all of the current updates or if I will need to start over and "reapply" everything I've done in the last 60 days. So, How current are the current distributions?
Thanks,
Michael

all installs, will get all updates available as of the time you use Update Manager.

just put a fresh install on the SSD and don't worry about it, then let it update, and it will be current as of the time the updates are finished.

when that is done, add any applications that you want to have on it.

just make a list of the stuff you have done so far....
if you would like the new install to be a carbon copy of what you have tweaked it to now,
run Aptik and store the backup file on a separate hard drive.

then after the new install is done, the updates have run, run Aptik GTK and find the backup file.
let it go, and it will "clone" your new install to the same state as what you have now....

it has to be the "same exact OS and desktop"
