[Solved]All networks broken

Post by pic_man »

I have been using mint for a year,because one particular program ( MPLABX ) runs better on linux , PC is not usually connected to internet, although TP-Link usb was connected. I have had a few 'updates' from time to time, last week it seemed no network connections that did work, are now not working .. wire of wi-fi ... please advise best recovery procedure .. this is from a win 7 PC
thanks in advance.

Please generate an overview of your system like this:
- Launch a terminal window (this is how to launch a terminal window);
- make the terminal window full screen, to avoid chopped lines;
- Copy/paste this command into the terminal:

Code: Select all

inxi -Fxz
(if you type: the letter F is a capital letter)

Press Enter.

Copy/paste the output in your next message.

Do the same with the following four commands:

Code: Select all

rfkill list all

Code: Select all

iwconfig

Code: Select all

lsusb

Code: Select all

lspci

Two things:

1. Try to undo the soft block like this:

Code: Select all

rfkill unblock all
2. Disable power management for your wifi:

Good to hear! :)

The wifi power management issue is probably unrelated, but turning it off improves wifi quality in most cases. So I advise to do that anyway. I always turn it off on my machines as a matter of course....
