The one feature that I miss from Windows is: one left click to highlight a file or folder name, and then rename. Linux's method is much too slow for bulk jobs. is there a way to adjust?

I have selected single click to open stuff... I point to an item and right click to rename... quick and easy.Peter Linu wrote: ⤴Sun Dec 16, 2018 6:04 pm The one feature that I miss from Windows is: one left click to highlight a file or folder name, and then rename.
I don't normally bulk rename stuff but if I wanted to, I would look to do it from a command prompt (terminal).Peter Linu wrote: ⤴Sun Dec 16, 2018 6:04 pm Linux's method is much too slow for bulk jobs. is there a way to adjust?

Re: Mouse long left click to rename
For bulk renaming operations, I use GPRename. It's in the Software Manager.
If your issue is solved, kindly indicate that by editing the first post in the topic, and adding [SOLVED] to the title. Thanks!

Re: Mouse long left click to rename
I tried GPRename. It's far too complex for my modest enquiry. Perhaps I should explain in more detail. I need to put '01', '02', '03', etc. IN FRONT of an existing file so that all the files remain in my order. The current Mint operation is at least 2 and sometimes 3 actions and also is unstable requiring me to repeat the process.

How many files are you wanting to enumerate--a few?, thousands?, varies?Peter Linu wrote: ⤴Mon Dec 17, 2018 6:38 pm I tried GPRename. It's far too complex for my modest enquiry. Everything in life was difficult before it became easy.

There is a similar feature in Cinnamon. With Nemo running click Edit>Preferences. Choose the Behavior tab. Third line down click to activate "Click on file name twice to rename it"
