XFCE 19.1 - Bluetooth can't start on boot (hci0: command 0x1009 tx timeout)

Post by ahlexcendre »

Hey folks,

I've always managed to get the bluetooth working with my headsets using Blueman. The only exception was when I suspended my laptop it would give me this message: "Bluetooth turned off, bluetooth needs to be turned on for the device manager to function" with the option to enable it, even though it is already the case. There was the systray icon on the panel but I couldn't pair/connect to any device.

It wasn't bothering me that much, all I had to do was rebooting. However, it has became permanent now. I haven't updated anything major, even the upgrade to 19.1 didn't affect my problem. I tried to uninstall and purge blueman (and dependecies), tried the default bluetooth manager, turning off the wifi to see if there was a conflict with it etc. I really don't know what to do now, I'd really appreciate some help thanks.

Hi ahlexcendre.

When you were using Blueman, had you purged the default Blueberry? It may help to try Blueman again if you hadn't.

Here's how I got my Bluetooth headphones working a couple of weeks ago: viewtopic.php?f=48&t=284619#p1572830

Hope that helps.

Hey,

Yes I've tried but nothing much changed.
I've reinstalled TLP and it seemed to act as before (randomly working) but I'm not sure that is the culprit. However I've found something with the dmesg command:

Just upgraded to the new Mint 19.1 - my bluetooth worked on the old version, but now it continually searches to find a device to pair with. I'm a total newbie (only a few weeks on Linux).
Appreciate any assistance.
