Open a terminal and post here the output of :
sudo fdisk -l
df -h
so we can help you out. With no data provided we can't do anything for you...

fdisk shows that there is only ONE hard drive detectable, with a size of 200GB (fdisk is never wrong). So if your brother really does have two hard drives in that computer then:
1) the BIOS setup is incorrect
2) the cables to the drive have become disconnected
3) the slave/master jumpers on the drives are set incorrectly, or
4) the second hard drive is dead.
