Can I change the Grub colour scheme within LM7?

Postby Pipps » Sat Jul 11, 2009 10:09 pm

I would like to change the Grub bootloader colour scheme to something very subdued for my office machine.

I would like the Grub menu background to be plain black, and the text to be white, and the highlighting to be white and highlighted text to be black (ie highlighted selection to be inversed). Is it possible to do this within the menu.lst file?

Assistance in performing this tweak would be much appreciated! Thank you.

There is a GUI application for customizing GRUB. You can get it by running 'sudo apt-get install startupmanager'. After it's installed, run 'startupmanager' to customize GRUB.

This maybe what you want.
Disable the GFXboot theme:

Code: Select all

gfxmenu=/boot/gfxmenu/linuxmint.message
to

Code: Select all

#gfxmenu=/boot/gfxmenu/linuxmint.message

Disable the Blue color of the menu:

Code: Select all

color cyan/blue white/blue
to

Code: Select all

#color cyan/blue white/blue
