After a regular daily update about a month ago, I've been getting this pop up ever since, and am unable to download & install updates.
E: dpkg was interrupted, you must manually run 'dpkg --configure -a' to correct the problem.
E: _cache->open() failed, please report.
Any help much appreciated!

No. Do I do this in a terminal?

I've done that in a terminal. This popped up:
Your system has UEFI Secure Boot enabled.
│
│ UEFI Secure Boot requires additional configuration to work with
│ third-party drivers.
│
│ The system will assist you in configuring UEFI Secure Boot. To permit
│ the use of third-party drivers, a new Machine-Owner Key (MOK) has been
│ generated. This key now needs to be enrolled in your system's firmware.
│
│ To ensure that this change is being made by you as an authorized user,
│ and not by an attacker, you must choose a password now and then confirm
│ the change after reboot using the same password, in both the "Enroll
│ MOK" and "Change Secure Boot state" menus that will be presented to you
│ when this system reboots.
│
│ <OK>
How do I 'OK' it?

Tab key - OK should now be highlighted - Enter.
The MOK key is a hassle. Why not disable the useless cumbersome Secure Boot in your UEFI settings? Note that you might need to set an administrator password first (in the UEFI).

Upon booting, open the UEFI (BIOS) settings with the necessary key stroke and poke around a bit. Each UEFI (BIOS) is different.

Thanks Piotr.....but I couldn't find how to get to BIOS so continued with your directions....which worked. Thank you.
However, not all updates were downloaded/installed....then this popped up:

OK.
Refresh Update Manager. When no avail: wait a day (best option) or switch mirrors.
