As I have tried to explain Picasa opens every folder, even folders within folders, so every single photo is displayed on the right hand panel. To find a single photo you are looking for you just have to scroll down the thumbnails, right click on it on "locate on Disc" and you get the location. That all I use it for but it is invaluable.

You can also move photos easily from one folder to another.

How else can you easily find a photo you are looking for when you don't know which folder it is in?
The pre-installed pix, which I mentioned before, can do all that (and much more). Same as probably every other photo cataloger in the repository, that's about as basic a functionality as it gets.

Sadly no, in Pix you have to click on each folder in turn to view the thumbnails.
I read Karlchens link viewtopic.php?f=47&t=278702 but the poster agreed there was nothing as good
If you haven't ever used Picasa you wouldn't realise how good it is.
i will give Rapid Photo a try when I have time.

Anyway thanks all for your help.

At least take more than a brief second to look at the app? I didn't mention it to you twice now for no reason. Pix works with catalogs. To create a catalog, click a folder, then either click organize to auto-categorize by date or tags, or for your Picasa-like feeling, click Find, select Images (or whatever media you want to find), done. Note the checkbox to include sub-folders in both dialogs...

Thanks again for the reply.

I have given Pix a thorough try but the problem is in your first sentence "click a folder," with Picasa you just start it up no need or create to click on anything.
I have dozens of unnamed folders with just a few untitled photos in each so "find" doesn't help.

Hopefully the attached screen shot will show what I mean.

Is cropping a basic functionnality ? because Pix doesn't do it
Linux Mint 19.3 64bits Cinnamon (Kernel 5.3.0-23)
AMD APU A8 7600 (3100 MHz to 3800 MHz) with DDR3 1833 MHz 4 GB x2
(CPU limited to 4x 3100 Mhz default by no support of the Turbo-core, then after editing grub, supports up to only 3600 MHz)

Off-topic in this thread, but Pix does cropping just fine.

Ah, while I was making you another handy screenshot you edited the message... well here's my screenshot anyway. No, I do not consider this feature to be hidden. It's also in the menu. You're welcome.
