File copy problems
I installed EMBY and I want to move video files to the correct folder. Every time I do that, it will not allow me to copy or move my files to the EMBY folder. Is there a way around this?

Re: File copy problems
Usually, the inability to move or copy files to a specific directory is caused by the destination directory permissions. Have you check the "EMBRY" permissions? What command are you using to move or copy the files?
Please post the output from the following command:
Please, replace your_destination_directory with the appropriate value.
Please post the output from the following command:
Code: Select all
ls -ld your_destination_directory

Re: File copy problems
I am dragging the files from one folder to another. How can I find the permissions for EMBY?

Re: File copy problems
Open a terminal full screen and run the command that deck_luck gave you.

Re: File copy problems
I tried but it didn't work. I put the directiory information as the folder I want to store the files into.
Re: File copy problems
So what is the full path of the EMBY directory?

Re: File copy problems
Ok. So what do you get if you type in the following at the terminal:
Code: Select all
ls -ld /var/lib/emby/data

Re: File copy problems
ls -ld /var/lib/emby/data
drwxr-xr-x 5 emby emby 4096 Jul 30 11:09 /var/lib/emby/data
drwxr-xr-x 5 emby emby 4096 Jul 30 11:09 /var/lib/emby/data
Re: File copy problems
That tells me that a user called "emby" has full access to that directory, users that are in the "emby" group have read and execute permissions but not write, everyone else has read and execute permissions but not write.jdegrandpre wrote: ⤴Tue Jul 30, 2019 9:51 pm ls -ld /var/lib/emby/data

I don't know anything about Emby and how it's meant to work. Are you meant to copy files directly into its directories or use some sort of import mechanism?
You might be better off asking in the Emby forums at https://emby.media/community/
