Automatic Login on Linux Mint 19.2

Post by jipthechip » Sun Aug 18, 2019 11:56 am

I'm trying to enable automatic login, meaning that the computer will just go right to the desktop upon startup without needing any user input, but I can't seem to find the right setting. All the solutions that I've found online are either outdated or don't work. It seems that this was much easier to do in earlier versions, but they removed/changed it for whatever reason.

I first tried going to Settings > Administration > Login Window but the setting isn't there.

I also tried changing /etc/lightdm/lightdm.conf so it looks like this:

[Seat:*]
greeter-show-manual-login=false
autologin-guest=false
autologin-enable=true
autologin-user=USERNAME
autologin-user-timeout=0
allow-guest=false

Where USERNAME is, well, my user name.

Anyone know how to enable this feature?

Does it really have "Seat:*" ? Is there a [SeatDefaults] section?
