why wont installing games-finest-light install any games?

Post by hatchet » Mon Aug 19, 2019 1:34 pm

Hello, i am not new to linux but i certaintly am no guru.
this used to work just fine but no longer.
i have just done a fresh install of mint xfce 19.2 64 bit
i have tried using sudo apt-get install games-finest-light but it only installs a couple packages and no games, have also tried synaptic and the software manager with the same results..
i do not really want to use --install-recommends and --install-suggests because then it installs way more than just what the games require.
here is some output

Code: Select all

hatchet@Inspiron-1501:~$ sudo apt-get install games-finest-light
[sudo] password for hatchet:

again, running the command "sudo apt-get install games-finest-light" used to actually install the games.. what am I missing?

I don't know for sure, but since it's recommending packages that look like games, perhaps you have to install the games afterwards?

From description in Package Manager:
This metapackage will install a selection of outstanding Debian games that are
suitable for low-end computers without hardware accelerated video cards. This
package is also a subset of »games-finest«.

It represents almost all genres and styles. The games were chosen based on
multiple factors namely popularity (popcon value), unique gameplay, look and
feel, aesthetics, fun factor and a good portion of subjectivity.

Please be prepared that the installation of all games might take a while but
it should take considerably less time than installing »games-finest«.
Games-finest-light is a package of multiple games and the list of "recommended packages" are the actual games included in this game package. When you input n when prompted to continue, you cancel installation of games-finest-light games package. Not sure if you can select certain games to install from the list of recommended games.
