Cinnamon keeps crashing to fallback mode

Hi all

Cinnamon keeps crashing to fallback mode while the screen is locked; at least, I see the results when I unlock.

~/.xsession-errors contains multiple instances of the following line around the time of the crash:

(csd-mouse:1654): Gdk-CRITICAL **: 18:48:54.048: gdk_error_trap_pop_internal: assertion 'trap != NULL' failed

Running a gdb on csd-mouse just returns a whole bunch of the same.

Can anyone help identify if there's something I can do to stop this please - or is it a Linux bug?

inxi output:

I'd advice you run Memtest on your computer to chack for faulty RAM. Just to have a place to start with.

Nope... passed through this 100% without any indicated failures.

Disable all visual effects in Cinnamon:

(item 5.1)

With a bit of luck, that might suffice.

Sadly it's still happening, even with those off. I guess it's just something I have to live with?

Ok, t might be neccesary to look for non-obvious faults.

Can you open the "Disk" -app and post a schreenshot of the S.M.A.R.T. -data for that disk ?

Hello stonelaughter,

I have the same (many csd-mouse) messages in my .xsession-errors but I don't experience fallbacks or crashes. I think, this message has nothing to do with your problem and can be ignored. For me all the messages there (and there a few more) have no effect on system stability. Maybe a look to the log of "Looking Glass" (right click in the panel under errors) can give a hint.
