8188eus usb wifi receiver

Post by preetksgill » Sat Aug 24, 2019 4:50 am

My internet connection is via a USB dongle JIOFI

The problem I face is that the JIOFI battery gets swollen due to being connected 24/7 to pc via USB cable

for this purpose I purchased a USB wifi receiver from amazon 8188eus and a 2.1 AMP USB charger so i can run the JIOFI device without battery.

this is where my problem starts

the 8188eus device is not recognized on my system and the drivers which came with the device have an install.sh script but i do not know how to get it to oinstall

i have 4 usb ports on my mother board purchased in 2009 so i guess its a usb 2.0 system ; i have my keyboard and mouse connected on a usb extension hub along with the jiofi device on the same hub

adding screen shots to this post

the lsusb command screenshot without 8188eus connected

the lsusb command screenshot with 8188eus connected

the second time lsusb command was run with the device added on the usb hub

please guide what to do

While connected to the internet do

Code: Select all

sudo apt install git build-essential dkms
git clone https://github.com/kelebek333/rtl8188fu.git
sudo dkms add ./rtl8188fu
sudo dkms install rtl8188fu/1.0
sudo cp ./rtl8188fu/firmware/rtl8188fufw.bin /lib/firmware/rtlwifi/
Reboot. Secure Boot will need to be disable if booting in UEFI mode
