Linux mint keeps corrupting itself

Post by MaxywaxytheCandle » Sun Aug 25, 2019 2:13 pm

Hi, i'm new to linux mint and when I installed it on my laptop from the start things started going wrong. Hour or two into my first boot it says "Read only file system" when i tried to edit or create a file ANYWHERE on my harddrive. I reboot and i am greeted by a busybox "{initramfs}" screen. I google this and it says i have to type fsck /dev/sda2 -y. After doing this and exiting the busybox thing it works for a bit but then it rinses and repeats. help please. I dont want to use windows.

That is going to be a hardware issue. Possibly HDD directly (i.e., loose connector) but also quite possibly memory. If you boot into the Grub menu (hold left-shift) you'll find a memtest option which I'd try.
