(SOLVED) Mouse and WiFi not working on new install of mint cinnamon

Post by Tugbeer1 » Sat Sep 21, 2019 5:28 am

First attempt at using Linux. Installed latest version of mint cinnamon on a Lenovo V145 AMD A6-9225 Laptop. The mouse pad doesn't work (but usb mouse does) and there is no wireless connection, although wired connection is fine. If anyone can help I'd be very grateful. Thanks in advance.

Please generate an overview of your system like this:
- Launch a terminal window (this is how to launch a terminal window);
- make the terminal window full screen, to avoid chopped lines;
- Copy/paste this command into the terminal:

Code: Select all

inxi -Fxz
(if you type: the letter F is a capital letter)

Press Enter.

Copy/paste the output in your next message.

Do the same with the following four commands:

Code: Select all

rfkill list all

Code: Select all

iwconfig

Code: Select all

lsusb

Code: Select all

lspci

Try this:

1. Update Manager - panel: View - Linux kernels
Install the latest kernel of the 5.0 series.

Then reboot.

2. Finally, do this (essentially what Larry78723 advised, but with more explanation):

I have a similar problem on my HP ProBook 6475b. The solution given here will not work for me as I am already using the latest listed kernel (4,15.0-34).
Here are some files that may help:

Hello royston,

please open an own thread for your wifi and ethernet problems, because this one is solved. You can put your output there the best, when you put in codeblocks with the </> button above the text box and even better for each terminal command an own codeblock. The title could be for example:
HP ProBook 6475b no wifi and ethernet
