Wireless Network [ SOLVED ]

Post by judasviking »

Hi Guys!

Just installed Linux Mint 19.2 Cinnamon 4.2.4 on my Lenovo ThinkCentre (M73 Tiny i believe ).

All is good and i love it so far, but i have to connect through cable to get any internet. Previously i had ubuntu and could use my Wifi-USB without any issues.

But i cannot use it here, its not even an alternative to change to wireless connection and i have searched for drivers.

The USB stick i use is tp-link Ac600 ( archer T2U ).

Can anyone help me with this issue?

Thanks alot!

Hi judasviking ,
welcome to our forum
:)

from Terminal can you copy these commands:

Code: Select all

inxi -Fxz
the copy the result, back here ..

and
Then use Terminal to run

Code: Select all

wget -N -t 5 -T 10 https://github.com/UbuntuForums/wireless-info/raw/master/wireless-info && chmod +x wireless-info && ./wireless-info

Code: Select all

cat wireless-info.txt | nc termbin.com 9999
Post URL from Terminal, back here, on your reply - - you will need an Ethernet Connection, as well.

NB: keep that tp-link Ac600 plugged into an usb port.

Establish temporary internet access by other means and try this:

Code: Select all

sudo apt install git dkms build-essential
git clone https://github.com/jeremyb31/mt7610u.git
sudo dkms add ./mt7610u
sudo dkms install mt7610u/1
cd mt7610u
sudo make installfw
Finally: reboot and test.

Hello judasviking,

i found the hint on this german website, that the needed driver should be included in the 5.x Kernel, which is offered in the update manager:

Good tip! :)
@judasviking: try this first.

How-to:
Update Manager - panel: View - Linux kernels
Install the latest kernel of the 5.0 series. Then reboot.
