My previous post vanished. I don't know why. Here I repeat my previous posts regarding this matter. Sorry for the redundancy. I am trying to make this easier for anyone to help. Please be patient. I am trying.
===============================================================
My HP Probook 6475b will not make a wireless or a wired connection.
This laptop is refurbished and new to me. I am not very familiar with it.
I hope to travel next month (India) and want to be able to make wireless connections to keep up with my email and similar.
Because I cannot make a connection I am unable to update my Update Manager and then my kernel to the current 5.0 kernel
Below are things I have been able to discover.
I will be very grateful for any help.

Just a guess, but maybe your usb wifi adapter clashes with the internal one. See if you can turn off the usb adapter.
