Terminal Commands [Solved]

Post by sdcougar »

What is the terminal command for launching browser (firefox, chromium)? and menu?

I lost the buttons at the bottom of the screen. Can only get to browser by going to terminal and clicking "about" button under help.

Had a button at bottom that didn't respond (to close browser...'wait or close') when I right clicked I took some option to get rid of it and lost all buttons at bottom....no menu, no browser...

Wrong one, OP is using Cinnamon, mintmenu is not:

(although Cinnamon uses it in fallback mode)

Also easiest is usually to just reset the entire panel to get back to the default layout.

Press the "Windows" key, Select Preferences, Panel, set "Auto-hide panel" to "Always show panel"

Assuming the panel is still shown, right-click an empty spot on it and from the menu select Troubleshoot > Restore all settings to default.

Windows key did nothing. But rt click on desk top got me to System Settings. Under Pref. /Applets I clicked 'restore default' ...shows several items with red circle on rt: "Problem loading, check Looking Glass or error log"

[panels button only showed , launch new panel or edit panel--which did nothing]

Thank you for the help but decided to use this as prime time to update to 19. So, as soon as I get my files transferred to a backup hard drive, I'll just install 19.
