Post by RemonK »

In the /dev directory there is a file/shortcut named "core" that is 140,7 TB !? Is that normal? How can it be that big when my drive is only 120GB..? :?:

Maybe to add that nothing in

Code: Select all

/dev
/proc
/run
/sys
actually exists on your drive. "Everything is a file" on Linux (look it up it if you care). ;)

That "everything is a file" i learned already.. still have to get used to that.

Because that file gives access to the memory and the Linux kernel overcommits memory by default. E.g. the Chromium browser I am writing this on currently allocates nearly twice my actual memory as virtual memory. Since that needs to be addressable, the file must be that size.

Another strange this is that in /media/admin there are at the moment 62 "My CDROMxx" directories!
That is something my Huawei phone does... and i can't get rid of them, they keep comming back!
