device uri for usb

Post by rn1 »

I am attempting to set up a usb printer....canon mf634.

I am being asked for a "device uri".

I searched for usb devices using the lsusb command and the printer shows up as:

Bus 001 Device 007: ID 1083:163e Canon Electronics, Inc.

experimenting with the numbers and entering them in the field mint is asking for, does not seem to be getting me anwhere.

if one of these numbers is considered a "device uri", would someone please tell me. if not, how, please, do i determine that number either from the command line or some kind of available gui?

thank you!

ps the choice i am getting in the printer set up is between "lpd" and "socket".

if neither of these is relative to a usb device, and I see the device in "printers" and have installed a canon driver for it, what am i missing in order to finalize the setting of this as a usb printer, please?

again, thank you
