Hi
I have linux mint cinnamon 19.3 on a toughbook with i5-4300 processor. I would like to dedicate it for playing games, mostly emulation. I installed retropie and a few other emulators like dolphin along side. I am not able to play any games even snes. Slow frame rate. I tried the latest mesa drivers and latest kernels. Might be something with drivers or kernel in mint. Odd thing is I do not have this issue in windows. I tried a mgame manjaro and no issues. Dolphin runs 100% gamecube etc. Suggestions on what to look for. Other intensive cpu programs are fine like playing hd video
Also does anyone make a custom spin like mgame but in a version of mint?

thanks

Open a terminal window (Ctrl-alt-T is a keyboard shortcut to do that), and enter the command inxi -Fxxz.

Highlight all of the output from that and paste into your reply between "code" and "/code" tags. Use the "</>" button to insert the tags, and paste your inxi output between the two tags.

Thanks for the response. I would prefer to stick with mint. If I wanted a simple just gaming only for emulators batecera linux or mgame work fine and fast. I gotten really used to mint and hoping to stay if I can figure it out. If I cannot I will try live boot from fresh mint iso or ubuntu latest.

You are running Cinnamon in Software Rendering mode. Log out, on the login screen click the Cinnamon icon and make sure you are logging into the default session.

Sorry for the slow response. I did not know i had a reply ha
You are correct. I am not sure why it defaulted to software rendering. That is something I would not of known. Huge difference.
Linux mint runs the same as the rest. I have retro pie installed and very happy with the results.
thanks a bunch
