[solved] Linux Mint Mate: Can't find themes

Post by program1 »

Hi,
On this website : https://itsfoss.com/install-themes-linux-mint/
it says to change themes just search for "themes" in your Menu and open it.
I don't see themes anywhere in my menu, under any settings either.
What do I need to do to install that themes applet ? or why don't I have it ?

I have Linux Mint 19.3 Tricia (mate) installed.

Because the article is about Cinnamon, not Mate. It's not very clear because the writing is a bit sloppy.

Hi, program1.

The linked article is about Linux Mint Cinnamon, which you can find out by following the link at the beginning, Five Tiny Features of Linux Mint Cinnamon I’ve Come to Love.
This why the things illustrated in the article, How to Change Themes in Linux Mint, will not work 1:1 on Linux Mint Mate.
Consult the available help on Mint Mate in order to learn how to change or add themes on Mint Mate, please.

Best regards,
Karl

Thanks for your clarifications and suggestions, looks like it can only be done manually in Mate.
Yea, that article did a poor job not clarifying it's only for cinnamon.

I chose Mate as a compromise between all features of cinnamon and few features of xfce.

From Menu, open Control Center. Themes are part of Appearance, in the Look & Feel group.
You also can open Appearance directly from the search box on Menu.
