Linux Mint and Windows PSU question

Hi guys,

I have a computer that has a dual boot, for Linux Mint Cinnamon and Windows. The new processors of AMD have problems(freezes) with Linux Mint, and the community says to change PSU Idle Control to Typical Current Idle, the question is this is safe? What this will impact on my Linux Mint and my Windows OS? And how this will influence my hardware. If you have an alternative like install another version please tell me!

I have a Ryzen 3700X cpu with 1000w psu and don't have any freezing up. I agree with gittiest personItW, in getting you to answer the questions he asked you. We need more info on the system you have. Changing settings in psu's is only asking for trouble, they come default set for everything, and for a reason. Is your computer freezing up when you use winwoes?
You might want to post the results from the following commands also..

When the current drawn is less then x amount the PSU can turn off/go to sleep.
The setting increases the (idle) power draw to prevent that happening.

I doubt it's the cause but in trying it there's no harm done.

Try and see if sudo ./zenstates.py --c6-disable helps after grabbing it from https://github.com/r4m0n/ZenStates-Linux (you can if so supposedly set a BIOS setting to that same effect as well).

What this command can influence the usage of my window? And this can damage my computer?

PS.: I'm really newbie, then I don't know exactly how the hardware and software works together and things of this kind.

Yes. It will set your system on fire, then turn around and sexually violate your pet hamster.

As in: no, it'll be fine. But also look in your BIOS if you can disable anything concerning C6 sleep state in there.

There's an issue with the 5.3.0-53 kernel and Ryzen/amdgpu setups. Boot to an earlier kernel to stop the freezes. See here for details.
