Is there any reason why I should be using Debian edition instead of the Main edition?

Can someone give me a reason why LMDE is better than LM itself?

Not really.
It avoids anything to do with Catatonic - which is enough for some Linux users.
It is solid & dependable, with, to my experiences, even less updates than the Ubuntu version.

I am happy using it (howbeit as a virtual box guest) but I actually use the main version as my daily driver as that allows a bit easier additional sources.

If, for any reason, the main version disappeared that I would be content to switch to LMDE 4 rather than searching for distributions new..

It is a choice for Mint, if one day wants to separate from Ubuntu!

Mint did add some changes into LMDE4 that are not in Mint 19.3
Best to read the release document & notes here:
https://linuxmint.com/rel_debbie.php

Mint 20 will, as far as I understand it, incorporate these changes.

So, if someone did not wish to take the risk of installing the latest & greatest Mint from a previous version, then moving to LMDE4 could be seen as an alternative..
