Proof of clean install vs Beta upgade to final [SOLVED]

I will spare you the embarrassing details on why I'm asking this question but since this is the Newbie section...

If possible, how would someone determine if a computer currently running LM20 (Final) had done a fresh/clean install (from scratch) vs installed LM20 Beta and then did updates via Update Manager until it achieved "Final/Normal" (non Beta) status?

Thanks in advance.

You could check the installation date:

Code: Select all

sudo ls -alct /|tail -1|awk '{print $6, $7, $8}'
Also using the Update Manager, View, History of updates. If the first ones proceeded June 25 (before stable was released)

I have both scenarios on separate partitions. I do not perceive a difference.
imho lm20 beta with all updates equals lm20 stable at least for MATE

Code: Select all

cat /var/log/installer/media-info
will tell you the date the ISO used for install was released.

A system installed from the Beta ISO will output this. I haven't got a system installed from stable ISO to hand to double-check the date there but it should be different.

Code: Select all

Linux Mint 20 "Ulyana" - Release amd64 20200610
