[SOLVED] Change Terminal Prompt Name after Upgrade

Post by Davent »

I have just upgraded from Linux 19.3 to 20 & when I use the terminal, my command line prompt reads 'david@linuxmint19'. I want to now change this to 'david@linuxmint20'. I know that this is only cosmetic, but I do like things to look right. Help would be appreciated, Regards, Dave.

Edit the file /etc/hostname as desired
then
Edit the file /etc/hosts

Open them with

Code: Select all

xed admin:///etc/hostname
And

Code: Select all

xed admin:///etc/hosts
Save file, exit. Log out and back in. Should do the trick.
