[SOLVED] Disable password after "sleep"

Post by biltong »

Forgive me if ths has been asked before, but I have searched the forums without success.

I recently installed "Gloria" and love it. However, I want to disable the system asking for the password after I put the computer into "sleep" mode - this is a button on my keyboard which, I assume, puts the machine into suspend. I am happy being asked whether I want to perform system activities, but recovering from a suspend on my home PC is not necessary!

Thanks for any help.

I'm afraid I don't know how to get this done for just waking the machine, but I would imagine that setting yourself an automatic login in Administration -> Login Window -> Security Tab would stop it from asking you for your password on any login event, including waking. Not sure though.

Thanks for the reply, but that doesn't work! I have tried that without joy. I know that in Windows the password can be disabled for all events such as this, and I really would like to replicate the same thing here!

Thank you Aging Technogeek! That is perfect and it worked.

The following is the bit from the link that worked for me:
Alt F2 and run gconf-editor
Select apps --> gnome-power-manager --> lock
Uncheck suspend and hibernate.
Great to know there is a helpfull community helping us Noobs!

Cheers.

Screen saver > Lock settings > Lock the Computer when put to sleep > disable Works for me.

Sorry for posting in a 2009 post, but google search lead me here and this solution didn't work for me.
