[Solved] Caps Lock key causes screen to black out.

Post by VonZane »

Howdy, I'm super new to Linux, so please excuse my noob-ness.

I downloaded Mint 20 on my 2017 Razer Blade Stealth laptop a couple days ago. Most things set up decently with the exception of Chroma controls, which I'm still working out.

So I was listening to some music and working on Firefox when I got blasted with full-volume static. The screen went black and started flickering white bars across. It damn near gave me a heart attack and I jumped a foot in the air out of my chair. I rebooted and it's working fine again for now.

Anyone have any idea what happened here? It did it the last two days, too, but I didn't have earbuds in at the time and I figured it was a freak accident.

Thanks! -Zane

Edit: I was able to snap a photo of the screen doing its thing, here it is.

Edit II: I narrowed it down to the caps lock key that causes the screen to freak out. No idea what to do about it now lol.

Edit III: Solved it! I just disabled caps lock

Edit IV: NOPE, looks like the memory is going bad on it...dammit!

Why, when there's nothing to fix?
It's pronounced kad-eye-cha, not kada-itcha.

I figured it was a freak accident.
More than likely, and possibly caused by an errant inter-galactic particle hitting the machine. If it keeps happening then it will need investigation.
