Why would I want to run Linux inside Windows?

I run Mint for the security and simplicity of the OS. Why would I want to muddy the waters by running it inside of Windows 10? Seems to me, you are defeating the purpose of using Linux in the first place by having it anywhere near a Windows OS. Is there something I am missing? Currently I dual boot and that works for me.

there is an argument for running the Windows System as an Guest, on an Linux Host.

there is an argument for running an LinuxMint System as an Guest, on an Windows Host.

so, just which is better ? and why ?.

there is some valid reasons, for both scenarios, it would seem.
- do you Trust the Windows System, to be an good host ?
would it crash & take out your Linux Guest ?
- do you Trust an Linux System, to be an good host ?
would it crash & take out your Windows Guest ?

personally, I'm in the second camp .. LinuxMint Host with several Windows Systems as the Guest.
- - that will show, just where my Trust level, currently resides.

Can't think of any good reasons to run a linux VM on a windows host. I do it the other way round, mint as the host, win7 in a VM.
