Window Manager partial failure on boot

Post by Statik »

Good morning all,
I have done the latest updates to Mint 20 Mate an I've noticed now that on boot I have some rendering issues. Skype starts automatically but it is missing the minimize/maximize/close icons in the top-right. Any new windows I open, like Firefox, are also missing these. I can correct the problem by opening Preferences-Desktop Settings and changing the Window manager from Marco to Marco+compositing. This fixes the issue. Then I can return to Marco. If I leave it on either of these settings, the problem returns on next boot. I have not tried the other window managers through a boot.
Any ideas on how to troubleshoot this?
Thanks!
Statik
