GNOME Maps offline

Post by trope »

I would like to use GNOME Maps (3.36.1) for Mint 20. I installed it through the package manager but get the error message:

Code: Select all

Maps is offline! Maps need an active internet connection to function properly, but one can't be found. Check your connection and proxy settings.
I am online and able to use the internet with no difficulty. I tried turning off the firewall and it did not help. Any ideas on what troubleshooting I need to do?
I did find this link (https://news2.x-itm.com/gnome-maps-and- ... ity-check/) which might be the same issue but I don't understand the instructions.

I just installed it with

Code: Select all

sudo apt install gnome-maps
and it's working perfectly for me.
