[SOLVED] How to Remap keys?

I would like to remap the keypad keys "4 5 6 1 2 3" to be instead "0 1 2 3 4 5", either globally or for a particular application. I have not found any simple instructions on how to do it. I tried looking in Keyboard settings.

I am using Mint 20, MATE. Generic-105 key PC.

Can I modify the file "keypad" in /usr/share/X11/xkb/symbols? Currently it looks like:

You can modify the file keypad.
By default first part of the file (lines 1-23) is used to map the keypad.
Swap values KP_0 - KP_9.
After saving the file run this command in terminal and restart the computer:

I have an application that I use those 6 keys extremely frequently, but it's very awkward right now to press them because the 0 is the large button on the bottom left of the keypad and 5 is in the middle, so I'm constantly having to shift the position of my fingers, hitting the wrong button a lot, having to undo it, etc, etc. It will always take a lot more time to press buttons on 3 rows instead of 2 because of the constant shifting of fingers. Also the layout makes no intuitive sense because it's zero-based, so I want the keys to basically represent 1-6 in order from top left to bottom right. I was able to reprogram the keys in Mint 19 within the application, but it does not work in Mint 20, running the exact same .bin file.

For lines 1-23, why are there 2 values for each key? Eg for the line:

To change it to 0, per your instructions I think I need to make it:

Is this right and curious what is the KP_Left for?

Before you press NumLock key that key works as Left Arrow key.
