I thought that I had flegita working properly about a week ago, but now when I try to scan something, I don't get a jpeg output option. Also, when I do a preview I see the whole page (A4 size paper) and choose the entire page, but I only get an output of a partial page. Any idea what the deal is?
Linux Mint 7 Gloria
HP Photosmart C4483
Thanks.

Re: Flegita/Gnome-scan - no jpeg option and partial scan
I would install sane and xsane - flegita is not all that good
Code: Select all
apt install sane xsane

Don't fix it if it ain't broken, don't break it if you can't fix it
Re: Flegita/Gnome-scan - no jpeg option and partial scan
I have used flegita on Gloria with a HP Photosmart C5280 with no problems. I should try a re-install.
Sane is OK but complicated for simple jobs.

Re: Flegita/Gnome-scan - no jpeg option and partial scan
I agree that Sane is a bit complicated but I can't for one use Flegita with my scanner - it does not work at all while Sane just works...

Re: Flegita/Gnome-scan - no jpeg option and partial scan
I loaded Xsane, and it works; although it is a bit complicated. When I scan, I don't do anything complicated. I live overseas from my company and need to be able to scan expense receipts and e-mail it - and that's it. So I'd rather something less complicated, but Xsane will do.
Also, flegita works fine from inside Gimp - just not standalone. Don't understand that one. I've put some time into learning photoshop and haven't yet decided if I want to stick with photoshop. If I do, I don't really want to keep Gimp around just to scan stuff with.
(Plus it drives me crazy that I can't get flegita to work properly. It's like a puzzle trying to get it working correctly, and I like puzzles. So I'll probably keep trying.)

Flegita seems to just fail silently if your hardware isn't compatible.
sane, etc will do the job, but they're not pretty.
