And where in those presets does it show mpg2 or mpeg2?
It doesn't because it's in...Video Encoder...https://handbrake.fr/features.php Presets have nothing to do with Video...I have my Preset at Fast 1080p30 and Video Encoder..H.264(x264). It all depends on what you want to do...as Handbrake does many things.

This still leaves open the question of why anyone would want to encode to mpeg2 video unless it's for a DVD. It's just awful by today's standards. ANything like h.264 video encoded to mpeg2 will look a lot worse even if the output file is bigger than the input.
As an example of what you're up against with mpeg2, the DVDStyler docs claim that you need >4.5M/s video bitrate for good quality. That's for just SD DVD video, and it's ridiculous. I can get high quality 1080p with 10 bit color with that bit rate.

Totally agree...I don't know why OP would want to do this either but OP did ask. Back in the day Video software quality was terrible but with the Video Encoders we have now...we can achieve better then DVD quality...who wants less.
