Add wallpaper preview missing

Post by echidnagirl »

A relative newbie been suing Linux -via gui for about a year. Have enrolled in an edX course on Linux for Beginners, but in the meantime...

My Mint 19.3 had a preview panel for the Add Wallpaper (Appearance) so I could see what I was selecting.
The preview is missing in the Mint upgrade 20 - sys specs below:

Kernel: 5.4.0-48-generic x86_64 bits: 64 compiler: gcc v: 9.3.0
Desktop: MATE 1.24.0 info: mate-panel wm: marco 1.24.0 dm: LightDM 1.30.0
Distro: Linux Mint 20 Ulyana base: Ubuntu 20.04 focal

I have also tried to use Dolphin and Space FM to right click and select Set as desktop because I have heard the feature is available in File managers - but apparently not in those two.
I've tried the doco and search engines but haven't found an answer or solution yet.
Thanks in advance for your help,
