This cannot happen with a live CD, maybe after you have installed, but not till then, please choose the option to "Test Integrity of the CD".

Check the MD5sum of the ISO from which you made the live CD, if it's the same as the one given in Documentation, then the burning could be at fault. Burn the ISO again using slow burning speeds. This applies only if you can boot normally into your previous install, else, you will have to borrow a functional live CD from someone near you.
