how to create a preview thumbnail for an MTS video that's just a grey rectangle?

Post by Martin1001 »

In a folder with 14 MTS video files, only 3 display as thumbnails, the remaining 11 display as grey rectangles. All 14 videos play perfectly. The same problem in other folders, but only with MTS files.

There's a lot of discussion of this topic on the web, but as far as I can see no solution as far as getting the thumbnails to show, apart from the following:

Edit > Preferences > Preview > Show thumbnails = Yes ; Only for files smaller than 4 MB.

As an alternative approach, which doesn't seem to have been addressed anywhere, is it possible to create (one by one) preview thumbnails for MTS videos that just display as grey rectangles?

(Of course, if anyone knows how to get them all to display in one go, that would be even better!)

By the way, there are no hidden files in the folder.
