Boot screen error messages

Post by newlyminted7 »

I have a 2105 Macbook Pro on which I've installed Linux Mint, as a dual boot system. I have some partitions, and I've kept the old, original Mac OS partition (for now). I still use Boot Camp to select which OS to boot into (not using Grub). Everything appears to work okay, but whenever I boot up the machine, I see this error message briefly on screen before it gets into Boot Camp:

I don't know what this message means, or if it is anything to be concerned about.

Well, I found some more info about this:
https://askubuntu.com/questions/1260204 ... -on-macboo

It sounds like the Linux installer might have erroneously changed the MBR to be a Hybrid MBR (from the comment at the bottom)?

Is there any difference if a bootloader runs in EFI mode vs BIOS?

Should I somehow change my bootloader over to Grub? (pros/cons?)
