Hey, so I decided to install the KDE Plasma desktop environment for my Linux Mint Cinnamon setup. I downloaded it but, not liking the taste, decided to uninstall by typing the commands:- sudo apt remove plasma-desktop sudo apt-get remove kde* --autoremove sudo apt-get remove plasma* --autoremove
I had installed using the below command:- sudo apt install kde-full
While installing I noticed that the total file was 2.5GB (I noticed this when it asks for the Y/N confirmation). But while running all of the uninstall commands the maximum I saw in the Y/N confirmation would be a few MBs. Does this mean that there are remnants of the KDE Desktop still left on my PC? If not then why didn't I see a full 2.5GB disk space release confirmation?
Thanks in Advance for the help!!

These are the remnants of KDE Plasma desktop environment in your system right now. Removing lib* packages manually is not recommended, so I'd suggest you live with them. You may still remove some things like kdeconnect, plasma-desktop, plasma-discover and plasma-worksace to free up some space. Don't forget to run apt autoremove afterwards.

Hmm but why is it not recommended to remove them manually by using lib*, will I break something in the process?
The rest of these SHOULD be okay to remove without too much pain / destruction of things. Just be VERY mindful of everything that apt says it's deleting (or remove things one at a time) to make sure you're not nuking your system:
If you installed with apt install kde-full then you could check with apt purge kde-full --simulate instead of trying to selectively remove the pieces. Obviously you do it without --simulate next if everything goes well with the output.
This is install simulation, but it's on Mint 20 Xfce, also note that for the 20.x series the default setting is "--install-recommends" too:

Downside of this is that it catches anything with "kde" in the name; such as these block device libraries (you really don't want to get rid of them):

So I removed all the packages stated here and autoremoved everything, which freed up about 700-800MB of space, I think Im fine with that and I should just let it rest.

Yes, you will probably break things. It's not recommended to install multiple DEs at all in the first place! Don't do that again!

Learnt my lesson the hard way!! XD
Nah, multiple DE's is perfectly fine. I've never heard any recommendation against it in 2 decades of using Linux (well, beyond your standard "if you don't know what you're doing, it might be best to just grab the ISO with the DE you want")

In my opinion, installing multiple DE's is a typical newbie mistake. Experimented with it myself when I switched to 100 % desktop Linux, back in 2006. All kinds of MIME type trouble and generally messy. No good.

"I did it in '06" ... Even getting one DE working could be a challenge back then (nVidia, I'm lookin' at you).

Haha. Those were the days!
I can remember a total breakdown of my graphics in the summer of 2006, because of a faulty Nvidia driver update that was pushed to Ubuntu 6.06 Dapper Drake without proper prior testing. Thank God I had a fresh Acronis TI image that I could restore, but many were the victims that had no such recourse.
If I remember correctly, that trainwreck incident was the incentive for Canonical to introduce the Proposed source, in order to improve update testing.
