Excuse my bad English but I print texts or as pdf etc often
and ALWAYS when I get the dialog window with name fill field
and where the text should be saved, it ends up by default in HOME
for some strange reason.
WHERE & HOW do you change this to what you want, e.g. to the desktop ????

Re: Why does by default my text/pdf/docs always be saved in HOME ?
No answer ?
When pressing CTRL-P in for example Firefox I get
this dialoguebox with the possibility to print either to
my physical printer OR PDF .
But as default the pdf-file will be saved in . /home and I do not
want that to happen so why can't I change "somewhere" in some
settingsfile or something to my /desktop instead ?

Not the answer you're looking for I expect. But I managed to get a firefox page saved to the desktop as a PDF.
Copied and pasted the text into Xournal and then exported to PDF, you can then save it where you like.

Pretty much the same issue as How to change default save location in XED text editor.
Please do not use animated GIFs in avatars because many of us find them distracting and obnoxious. Thank you.

Re: Why does by default my text/pdf/docs always be saved in HOME ?
this was in 18.3 Cinnamon when it was fixed for me
no matter how you launch XED, it will always save to /desktop
for PDFs ??
I just know that they are going to be in /home and don't worry about it
Code: Select all
mkdir -p ~/.local/bin
Code: Select all
echo -e '#!/bin/sh\ncd $HOME/Desktop/\n/usr/bin/xed $@' > ~/.local/bin/xed
Code: Select all
chmod u+x ~/.local/bin/xed
