Bluetooth USB Dongle compatibility

Post by xtophekoo »

Hi Linux Mint people.

This is my first time posting on the forum as I have been running Linux Mint on my home PC for 2 / 3 years now and I must say that I am definitely an happy user. But I'm still a total newbie when it comes to Linux. I'm currently running Linux Mint 20.1 Xfce 64-bit.
I used to be a Windows user (like most people) but decided for my personal use to move away and have a go at a Linux distro and Mint is very enjoyable. Though, still using Windows at the office.
For the last 2 / 3 years, I have managed to troubleshoot all issues I had on Linux Mint through search on Google and this forum but I am currently facing one that I can't solve. Hope someone here can help me.

I recently got a Bluetooth USB dongle which I plug into my PC. Linux is detecting it but it can't find any of the devices I want to connect to my PC via Bluetooth. I have tried troubleshooting with the bluetoothctl command under terminal but without any success till now. Important thing to note is that on the box of Bluetooth USB dongle, the compatibility with Linux is not mentioned (only mentioned compatibility with Windows and MAC OS) but Linux is still able to find it. Can that be an issue ?

Any help would be appreciated.
